It was built on a previous house-tower of 1156, as a refuge of Vulpano, jamb head of the family.
The noble Vulpano family become extinct soon in Sylos family, with which had become relatives thanks to the marriage of the lastborn.
The prospect is divided in two floors and a footing. Small balconies of age back to that date, adorn the second floor.
The portal is in clear Catalan inspiration: it is conceived as a real arch of triumph, rich and sober at the same time. Notable are the frame, the delicate sculptures related to them, the capitals “a boccioli”.
Just entered, a large court covered welcomes visitors. On the ceiling is represented a composite emblem that synthesized the varied political marriage in this family, become relatives with the most important families of Bitonto.
Then, one enters in the square court dominated by a loggia decorated with the Florentine Renaissance taste and conceived as a great allegory. The intention was to glorify the civic and moral qualities of the Vulpano family comparing the founders to the Roman heroes (Scipione, Annibale, Antonino Pio and Nerone) to the gods (Nettuno, Marte, Apollo) and Greek myths (Orfeo).
Beautifully restored and visited are a chapel and an environment of service (a barn).
Recently there were also a portion of the Roman road and a beautifully frescoed room in an allegorical theme about the different types of love.
