The prospect of the building in ashlars-work (quadrangular and rustic stones with a slight relief), even though in late Renaissance taste, presents different stylistic elements; the ground floor is characterized by simple square windows and classical portal. The second and the third floor by elegant balconies of 18th century.
A prominent frame (overhanging) embellished by sculptural elements of various shapes( acroterions) sets the summit part of the palace.
On the left side of the principal façade, the renaissance portal was the entrance of the ancient church of Misericordia, demolished in 1905; on the summit part of the portal you can read an inscription with a dedication to the Virgin which asks the gift of the water. In the small pediment it is possible to see a relief that represents the Pietà (Piety); on the trabeation there is the Volto Santo (Holy Face).
On the right side of the palace, next to the Cathedral, you can see two arched openings (fornixes) in classical plant, that belong to the Loggia where the bishop Carafa gave benedictions. It was realized between 1622 and 1650.
Proceeding on via Michele Speranza, the De Lerma palace presents a second prospect, similar to the first, with half-columns in ashlars-work and a portal, a curtained wall, decorated with a frieze of classic mould.
